The Giving Tree:  Helping Underprivileged Children and their Families

Several years ago, our Tabitha Club (Girls-Grades 1-5) started a ministry that has grown by leaps and bounds!  It all began with a simple donation of school supplies to students at Gibbs Elementary School in Canton, Ohio. Today it has grown into a ministry that serves 15 inner-city Canton schools & schools in Plain Local and Alliance City.  We have a team of dedicated volunteers who pick up, sort and deliver snacks every two weeks to the schools.  Volunteers also weekly pick up, sort, and box for delivery gently-used clothing. We have a team of volunteers who pick up thousands of pounds of groceries each month.  The groceries are sorted and later bagged to be given away to needy area families.  All of our services are always free to the public.

Twice a month we host large “giveaways” at our North Canton building and or at inner-city Canton schools.  On a designated Saturday, 50+ volunteers fill our gymnasium with used clothing, groceries, snacks, crafts and other items.  A clown and a balloon man often entertain the children while mom and dad “shop.”  Over 200 new coats are also given away each year as need arises.

We have a great relationship with Canton City, North Canton, Plain and other area schools!  With their help, we are able to help many families in need.
